Suboxone Outpatient Treatment — How It Works

The Innovative Outpatient Treatment for Opiate Addiction that you will find here at Recovered Life is designed to help ease your transition into recovery. After a brief intake session, we will be better able to customize the treatment to suit your needs, and you will receive your first dose of Suboxone and any other necessary medications.

Throughout the treatment you will be provided with ongoing support and encouragement, and any other help necessary. A brief outline of the process is available below:

  • Initial contact with an intake interviewer establishes basic information and sets appointment for admission.  The overall cost and expectations are reviewed at this time.
  • A nurse will follow up this call and outline the preparation for admission appointment and answers any other questions patient may have.
  • Intake appointment with our Psychiatrist will include an evaluation of needs and basics of treatment plan.
  • Intake appointment will also introduce patient to their nurse for the course of treatment. This nurse will initiate treatment with the first dose of Suboxone and review exactly how this medication works in the body. This nurse will also review consents and program rules, as well as answer questions for the patient and any family member or friend whom the patient chooses to be present and signs permission for them to be present.

The decision to have another person present is completely up to the patient being admitted and no one will be present without appropriate release forms signed. We recommend someone accompany you to drive home for safety until we know if the medication may make you drowsy.

  • patientsPatients will receive additional medications to help with any possible side effects and will include something to help with sleep, nausea and anxiety. Use and possible side effects of these medications will be reviewed, and any patient questions answered. None of these medications will be used without the explicit direction of your nurse.
  • Patient will be comfortable and stable within the approximately 2-hour appointment and be in touch with their nurse every few hours the first day of treatment, right up to bedtime.
  • The following 2 days you will be in contact with your nurse for directions in taking your medicine while we find the lowest most effective dose for you.
  • When we find that dose, we will be talking with you once a day for the next week, then every few days after that.
